Knowledge speaks,

but wisdom listens”

Vicki Smart

Vicki has been immersed in yoga since her first class in a gym all the way in London 13 years ago. At times the journey has been smooth, and at other times tumultuous, but with perseverance and dedication she stayed with it through both. Having first undertaken teacher training with Power Living, then subsequently further teacher trainings in Anusara (with Tara Judelle, Ross Rayburn, Cassandra Missio and Christine Du Fresne) and The School of Yoga (Noah Maze and Christina Sell) Vicki believes knowledge is power when it comes to working with the human body. Having used yoga and movement to better understand and improve an old snowboarding injury, Vicki is dedicated to utilising yoga as a medium for healing through deepening the communication we have with ourselves. Vicki is also passionate about meditation and brings this into her asana classes.

When was the last time you did something for the first time?
Every time I hit a pole dance class something new happens, with varying degrees of bruising!

What are your goals for 2016 and beyond?
Continuing to build powerful retreats, both alone and with incredible collaborators like Amy Molly, with whom I run Dear Me, a therapeutic writing retreat twice a year. Transformation is a great business to be in! I also want to be able to rock out a Jade Split (pole move) by the end of the year!

How would you describe your first yoga experience?
Challenging, inspiring, scary, exhilarating and a little confronting! I fell into a gym yoga class in London back when I was a desk jockey, pigeon pose nearly killed me! Now its one of my favourite shapes.

Who has influenced you most in your life?
Every student who steps up and offers themselves into the transformative power of their yoga. Every time someone says 'I didnt think I could' or 'I didnt think I was strong enough', but they tried anyway. Our students are all heroes.

If you had one super power, what would it be?

Time travel. There are a few moments I have missed in this last couple of years as I have ramped up my teaching and I would love to be able to go back and be in two places at once!
