Masumi Goldman
Masumi began practicing yoga in October 2012 to expand her fitness regimen and to introduce a new challenge to her daily workouts. She quickly came to the realization that yoga was far more than a physical fitness challenge. Yoga was a life-changing discovery. Earlier in the year, Masumi was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that caused inflammation and terrible pain in her joints and tendons. Along with a macrobiotic diet, Masumi used yoga to heal and rehabilitate parts of her body that lost mobility after months of inflammation.
Today, Masumi practices yoga regularly as part of her healing plan, and shares her journey each day on Instagram (@masumi_g) in the hopes of inspiring others to lead a healthy lifestyle. You can join Masumi on her journey and get inspired in your own yoga practice by following her collaborative Instagram yoga challenge!
When was the last time you did something for the first time?
This past year has been an incredible year of firsts for me. For the first time in my life, I began pursuing my passions aggressively. I started my own natural light photography business, I began practicing yoga, I truly took charge of my health and began healing myself naturally, I overcame my fear of being inverted and now have an inversion practice, and I got into my very first split (Hanumanasana) at the age of 35. I can’t wait to see what other “firsts” the future holds.
What are your goals for 2016 and beyond?
My big goal is to grow my inspirational yoga/fitness/nutrition website twofitmoms.com to serve everyone looking to live a healthy, balanced life.
What is your favourite yoga pose and why?
My favorite pose is pigeon pose. It is one of the few stretches that I actually find relaxing! I am not a naturally flexible person, so most stretches are a bit of a struggle for me. Pigeon always feels great. :)
