Donald Shakes

 

Donald’s awakening into the world of yoga began seven years ago when he started the study of Transcendental Meditation under Carol Maher. During this time Donald also dabbled in Reiki and singing bowl healing as a Reiki Master. 

Next came the physical practice. Donald began with Bikram before journeying into Iyengar, Ashtanga, and Yin Yoga. It was during these early Bikram days that Donald accidental went to the wrong class at his studio in Surry Hills and entered a Power Yoga class – this is where he had his “This is it” moment, and he hasn’t looked back since!

Donald has been an avid yogi for the last six years and has completed the Power Living Yoga level 1 and 2 teacher training courses, Body Mind Life as well as Anusara training, workshops, and alignment courses. Donald continually inspires the lives of everyone he encounters, so keep an ear out for the singing bowls in Savasana... a beautiful balance to the strong classes he delivers with such passion.


When was the last time you did something for the first time?

The last time I did something for the first time was today. I sat in a front garden of a home with a loving soul. :)


What are your goals for 2016 and beyond?

One of my big goals for 2016 is to go to India!!!

 

What is your favourite yoga pose and why?

Savasana is the resting posture, my favourite amongst many. In Savasana there is a therapeutic balance to the entire body, the singing bowls help compliment the deep rest.
